AlumniTHANK YOU!!!It has been almost exactly one year from the time an idea for a deck at the CCC originated until its completion. The project has taken many steps, and significant costs. We at the CCC (Doug, Bunny, & all the students) are so proud and thankful for the gifts that made possible one of the coolest (not temperature-wise), most attractive, and relaxing areas for students to hang out! It is finally completed. In May, we held a dedication ceremony acknowledging and honoring those all who contributed. We are sure already how instrumental this new acquisition will be to our ministry here at ASU! Thank you for your contributions, and for your faithfulness to what you know can be life-changing for others in the future! I will post pictures soon. -DJ ALUMNI REUNION & WORKDAYWell, we are planning on another reunion for April 9th – 11th. Since the patio was contracted out (and some of you wanted to help), this will also be a time to help finish off and spiffy up the CCC a bit. There will still be some yard work that can be done if you are interested. If you would like to help, or just want to cheer the workers on, please stop by the CCC for details and to hang out. They now have a grill on location so we are considering doing hamburgers on Saturday for supper, so plan to bring some money for supper, it won’t be a set amount, but just donations to help reimburse for the food. We really hope to see a large crowd there so that people can work, visit, and just hang out. I realize this is a bit more last minute than the last reunion, but still hoping for a good turn-out. Please be sure and e-mail, call, or write a letter to your classmates and get them to come as well. I’m not sure I have many people on any of my lists from about 2004 or 2005 to the most recent graduates so please if you are a recent alumnus please be sure and contact your people. I know there are some bitter alumni as the current students are now having Volley Pong tournaments and have a poster up for the champs…the alumni might have to defend that title and have a big tournament throughout the day on Saturday if enough show up. Also, that Saturday night there will be a group called Legacy singing at Johnson Street Church of Christ on Saturday evening. We are currently unsure of the time it will start, but I’m told it will be free to get in, but then they will take up donations. We are also thinking the group will do something at church on Sunday morning for those of you that can hang around town long enough that morning. Still trying to get more details…I will pass them along as they become available, or check in on the CCC website for more up-to-date information. Not sure how many of you are on facebook, but there is a website that has been set-up for alumni...Christian Campus Center at Angelo State started by Steve Gauntt. There are several Christian Campus Center groups on facebook, but those are mainly for the current students. Please be sure and join the group if you are on there…it is a good way to keep in touch with people in your class. Also, they still have the website for the CCC @ http://www.ramsforchrist. com/ that you can check out. One last question…we have an alumnus that is currently in Africa and she is hoping that someone that will be there has Skype on their computer so that she will be able to see, and visit, with some friends. If you have this program on your computer and will be coming will you please let me know as I do not have those capabilities on any computers I have? Thank you all and I will continue to post updates… Tracey (Brock) Hutchinson HISTORY OF THIS COLLEGE MINISTRYI am currently researching the college ministry as it functioned and changed from the BSC/ Bible Chair days to the CCC on up to the present. If you would like to contribute to my efforts and share your perspective and knowledge, please contact me at 944-2559. It has been very "interesting" and exciting so far!!! Thanks! -Doug Johnson CCC Deck Fund-raising Letter(original letter attached below the following text) Christian Campus Center: 1920 Johnson St. San Angelo, TX 76904 October 2009 Dear CCC Alumni; To my knowledge, this will be the first letter of its kind. In fact, it is so unique, that I'm not sure how to begin other than to tell you some incredible and exciting things are happening at our CCC with the Rams for Christ (RFC) (see the way-cool RFC logo Doug created at the top right corner of this letter)! We're busting at the seams and still growing! We need more room, and so… The Elders approved a wonderful plan to make some much needed/long overdue (in my humble opinion) improvements to our CCC building, Those are to include: a new (second) doorway on the east wall nearest the BSM, a large wood/composite deck leading to the grassy yard, steps where the hill was, and a new outside grilling/fellowship area that, once completed, will have a new grill area and patio furniture. There are built-in benches that encircle the hexagonal shape of the deck and an overhead rafter-type "ceiling". It looks awesome; check the CCC website for pictures! All this work is being done by JSCC members and your current (wonderfully large group of freshman) CCC students. The students volunteered to provide some of the labor in order to reduce costs. This new project is going to make the CCC a very attractive place for students to come hang out and relax from the pressures of college. Having it in the back yard area (facing the Planetarium/Nursing Bldg) means it will be visible to all students as they walk, bike, unicycle, or skateboard (it's a new generation) to class. It will be something that draws new students in and hopefully will entice them to stay. Doug, his wife, TaLisha, and Bunny are doing such a tremendous job of getting new folks into the CCC and many are staying. We had 60+ on fall retreat…a number we've not seen for some time. But that's why this project is so important. The students are arriving in large numbers; they stay and hang out and this added "living area" will allow more room for our RFC's to socialize, fellowship, study, etc. Now to the point of this letter: We need your financial help! To my knowledge, we (CCC alumni) have never been asked to monetarily assist this ministry, yet I think it's fair to say we've all been immeasurably blessed by it. This is an opportunity to ensure a better future for our ministry. I am writing this letter because I felt compelled to help. I am still an active Deacon of this ministry and love it with all my heart. This project has the students so excited, it's wonderful! I am not asking for any specific amount, but I am asking for a one-time donation to the CCC. I am asking that you give as you're able and inclined to give. I make this request with the unanimous approval of the Elders of Johnson Street. Please give prayerful consideration to this unique opportunity to help our CCC remain an important part of ASU students' lives. Checks should be made out to "Christian Campus Center" or simply CCC and they can be mailed to the address at the top of the page. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration to our request. Please come visit the CCC whenever you are able and meet some of our current students…they are terrific! In His Love; Mark Webster Attached Documents
